Dil Ki Awaaz – A Musical Tribute To Lata Mangeshkar Songs By Sadhana Sargam-小坂めぐる

Music Im a great lover of Lata Mangeshkars music. So, August 1st was an important day indeed as I settled down in my seat at the Music Academy, to listen to Dil ki Awaaz and take a trip down memory lane! Sharan Incorporation, a city based event management .pany, paid its tribute to the golden voice of India, Lata Mangeshkar with this concert. They need a pat on their back for having started the concert well on time, despite the audience taking its time to trickle in. Wish more event management .panies would take punctuality seriously! For me it was a bewitching evening of music, listening to popular Lata Mangeshkar numbers, in Sadhana Sargams melodious voice. Every time Sadhana spoke of Lata ji, it was with so much awe and reverence, and she punctuated her performance with little known anecdotes from Lata jis life. Jo vaada kiya by Sadhana and Ramesh, left the audience hungering for more. Other singers for the evening were indeed a surprise package! These included Surojit Guha from Bangalore, Ramesh from Erode and Akhila, Usha, Raji and Shekhar from Chennai. Having started with Satyam Shivam Sundaram other popular numbers included bindiya chamkegi, mere hathon mein naun naun choodiyan hain, raina beeti jayee, kora kagaz tha yeh dil mera, aa jaa sanam madhur chandni mein hum and lots more! Ushas rendition of chalte chalte from Pakeezah was indeed haunting. The Mohammed Rafi sound-alike, Rameshs effortless singing drew great applause, as the young singer belied his age with the maturity of his syrupy voice. Surojit Guhas baritone and soulful voice almost sounded identical to Hemant Kumar / Manna Dey! Shekhar was brilliant with his full throated Kishore Kumar numbers. The best part about the evening was this bunch of talented singers, who boasted of well-trained voices. It is wonderful that findnearyou.. chose to associate itself with a constructive and meaningful evening like this! It gave Chennai the opportunity to listen to the golden voice of Sadhana Sargam and it showcased and unleashed the talent of the other singers. . All proceeds will go towards V Excel educational Trust which supports children with autism, dyslexia and mental retardation. A cause with a heart indeed! Thank you Sharan Incorporation for a meticulously .anized evening and for giving Chennai a bewitching evening of music and talent! We look forward to more such meaningful events.
